Overview
This job aid walks through the process for managers or their delegates on how to complete a Primary Job Switch.
Primary Job Guidelines
If an employee has a salaried position and an hourly position, the hourly position must be the primary position due to timecards.
If both positions are the same pay rate type (hourly or salary), then ideally the position with a higher FTE percentage would be primary due to funding.
If an employee has tenure, then the position that has tenure needs to be primary.
Switch Primary Job
Step 1: Create a request via email to one of the following employment teams:
For Faculty and Staff, contact hrs-employment@uni.edu.
For Graduate Assistants, contact grad-assistantships@uni.edu.
For Students, contact studentemployment@uni.edu.
Step 2: Include the following information in your email:
Employees Name
Employees UID
The date you would like the change to be effective.
The position you would like to be the primary.
Reason
Change in Hours
Change in Job Responsibility
New Job is Primary
Primary Job is Ending
Other: Please explain if you choose this option.
What Happens Next
The team you contacted via email will complete the primary job switch in UNI Works.
