UNI Wireless Overview

UNI Wireless Overview

The UNI wireless environment consists of a number of networks or SSIDs. The primary networks students, faculty, and staff should be familiar with are:

Eduroam

The eduroam network is UNI's preferred encrypted Wi-Fi network for current UNI students, faculty, and staff. It provides the most access to UNI resources via high speed campus networks and Internet service providers.. Laptops, Cell Phones, and Tablets should use eduroam. It’s important to get your devices connected as soon as you arrive on campus. To connect to eduroam, please use your UNI CatID & password.

For more information about Eduroam, refer to this page.

UNI Smart Devices

UNI Smart Devices is a Wi-Fi network at UNI, available in the dorms and a few select locations to enable devices like smart TVs, gaming consoles and other internet accessible devices. Its intended use is for devices that can’t connect to the eduroam network with a username and password.

For more information about the UNI Smart Devices network, refer to this page.

UNI Guest WiFi

If you have visitors to the UNI campus and they would like to connect to a wireless network, this is the network they should connect to. UNI students, faculty, and staff should avoid connecting to UNI Guest WiFi as it is intended for guests and many internal UNI resources are not available on this network.

Note that this network is not available in the residence halls. For more information on how to Connect to “UNI Guest WiFi”, please refer to this page.
