About MyUNIverse in the MyUNI Mobile app

MyUNI Mobile app

Students can access their student records information from MyUNIverse via the existing MyUNI Mobile app. The app is very user friendly and should require no training, however should you have any questions this guide will hopefully answer them for you. If not, feel free to open an IT Service request and we will get you an answer and if appropriate update our documentation.

Installing the app

To install the MyUNI app, visit the appropriate app store:

Google Play

Apple App Store

Accessing the app

If you already have the mobile app installed you should be able to find the MyUNIverse tile on the initial page of the student persona, it looks like this and is titled MyUNIverse:

If you do not see this, you may want to click here for instructions to make sure you have the latest version of the MyUNI Mobile App, if you do reset your app, please make sure to select the student persona.  If you are faculty and want to access faculty center type functionality on your phone, we have not yet developed that yet, but are considering it.  Please let us know if you are interested in that, the more interest, the more likely it will get the resources needed to make it a reality.

If you do not have the MyUNI mobile app, you may download it for free from the Apple App store or Google Play store by searching for MyUNI or University of Northern Iowa.

Under the MyUNIverse tile you will find a space we will be working to provide you access to a number of CatID authenticated resources. The first is the Student Center, where students can perform nearly all the functions they can do in the Student Center accessed by the current MyUNIverse Portal. The tile for student center is:

Once you click on the Student Center tile you will be prompted for your CatID credentials. Please enter them and press login.

While this functionality works the same on both Apple and Android devices the look of the header and footer is slightly different for each. As a result the screenshots below have focused solely on the Student Center navigation.

Those that worked to bring you this app worked to organize the various components into 8 logical groupings. The groups identified can be seen in the shot below:

There are two ways of navigating through the functionality here.

  1. Clicking on the tiles

  2. Clicking on the > sign in the upper left of the page (which will slide out a menu).

These will be explored in more detail in the next image.
Another key point to note is that for the To Do List and Holds, we provided the red circles with numbers indicating how many to do's or holds you have . If you have none the red circles do not appear.

Navigation

The student center has a slider menu, for helping you get around to the various areas.  Please review the details below for a quick overview:

Notice several things in the image above:

  1. Items with a

to the right indicate that clicking on the

    will reveal a submenu.

  2. Items with a

to the right indicate there is no submenu, you will be taken straight to the item.

  3. Once a

is expanded it will be replaced with a

indicating if you click on it again it will collapse the submenu.

If you choose to navigate by using the tiles and there is a submenu for the item selected, it will be presented and you can choose the submenu item to go to. If after you have gotten to a detailed page you want to go elsewhere, please use the slider menu to navigate further.
