Google Gemini
Google Gemini is an AI-powered tool that can be used to generate content, summarize information, and assist with various tasks through prompt based interactions. As of this writing, Gemini uses the Flash 2.0 AI model, with the ability to utilize the 2.5 experimental models.
What can Gemini do?
Generate Content: Gemini can help you draft content that is tailored to your preferences and stated requests.
Answer Questions: Gemini will provide information based on its training data.
Create Images: Gemini can create an image based on the description that you provide.
Language Translation: Gemini can translate text between languages.
Mathematics and Science: Gemini can solve equations, explain concepts, and provide formulas.
Coding: Gemini offers code suggestions, explanations, and debugging assistance across multiple programming languages.
Gemini can make mistakes, so double-check it.
How to Access Gemini
Gemini is available to all current UNI community members with active CATID login credentials. To login to Google Gemini, navigate to gemini.uni.edu (or gemini.google.com)
When you hit gemini.google.com, please note that your uni.edu account is logged in (upper right). This will ensure proper data protections are in place for your Gemini session.
Privacy and Security
When logged in, your chats under your Northern Iowa CatID account are not used to improve Google's AI models.
UNI’s instance of Gemini respects your privacy. Your conversations remain within the university environment.
NOTE: Google Gemini does not allow you to delete your Gemini Chat history. Please keep this in mind when using Gemini.
