Adding captions to a Panopto video using REV from Blackboard Learn Ultra
Note, this is ONLY available to faculty with a student that REQUIRES captioning through Student Accessibility Services. If you'd like to add captions to your videos, we suggest using the Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) function within Panopto. For more information about this process, please visit our page How Do I Add Panopto's Automatic Closed Captions to My Panopto Video?
Log into your Blackboard Course. Enter the course in which you need to add captions to the Panopto videos. If you haven't already, you must provision (add) a Panopto folder for your Blackboard course.
In the right navigation, click on Books & Tools. Then from the Tools menu, click on Create or Link to Panopto folder.
Locate the video you would like to add captions to (you may have to search for the video if it is not in your course folder). Hover over the video that you want to add captioning to. Click the "gear" icon.
On the left navigation of the window that just popped up, click on Captions.
Under the Service Level section, click "Choose a caption service" and select Rev.com (Rev) DO NOT choose any other service! ONLY USE REV! Any other choice MAY result in your department getting a charge back for captioning services used.
Make sure Rev.com (Rev) is chosen, click on the "Order" button.
It will prompt you with a screen "Are you sure you want to order captions for this video?..." Choose Yes, if the statement is correct, No if it is not.
Your caption request should be complete within a couple of days. You will see a "CC" on the video once the captions have been applied.
