Here’s information on reconnecting to eduroam.
Check Your Credentials:
Ensure you are using the correct username and password. You can verify your credentials by logging onto myuniverse.uni.edu. You can manage passwords from “Password Central” applet. Also at the bottom of “Password Central” you can click “CatID Password Synchronization”. If connecting away from campus, the username must include the uni.edu domain (e.g., username@uni.edu).
Update Your Device:
Make sure your device's operating system and network drivers are up to date. Sometimes, pending updates can cause connectivity issues.
Restart Your Device:
Sometimes, simply restarting your device can resolve connectivity issues.
Check DNS Settings:
Verify your DNS is set to automatic.
Windows: Press “Windows Key + R”, type “ncpa.cpl” press enter. Right-click on your WiFi connection and select properties. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click “Properties”. Ensure “Obtain DNS server address automatically” is selected.
Mac: Click “Apple Menu” > “System Preferences” > “Network”. Select your Wifi connection and click “Advanced”. Go to “DNS” tab. Ensure it’s set to “obtain DNS server address automatically”. If there are DNS servers remove them using the minus button.
Remove Configuration Profiles:
If your device uses a configuration profile for eduroam, try removing it and setting up the connection again. This could be an issue if you’ve configured your device to use eduroam using a login from a another university. For example, if you’re a student who transferred. This can be done in the "Profiles" section of your device's setting
MacBook: - Delete eduroam profile under Settings -> Profiles
Low Signal Strength:
It’s important to have good WiFi signal strength. On iPhone and Android devices, It’s important to understand the difference between WiFi signal strength and signal strength for cellular networks using technologies like 4G, LTE, or 5G. Typically WiFi uses an icon that looks like a slice of pie and cellular providers use an icon that looks like a triangle, ramp, or steps. It’s more common on campus to have lower cellular network signal in lower areas like ground floors and basements, or even the interior of a large building.
