Migrating data from My Drive to a Shared Drive

Existing data in your Google "My Drive" can be moved to a Shared Drive.

Please note, data not owned by an @uni.edu email account can not be migrated. A copy of those files can be made and moved.

To move your files and folders to a Shared Drive, select the data you want to move from Google Drive.

Then drag the files to the Shared Drive you want them moved to.  Note: you can expand Shared Drives on the Left, and expand the Shared Drive to move directly into a subfolder if needed.

You should get a prompt confirming that you want to change ownership of the files to the Shared Drive.

If you get a message saying files could not be moved, try moving the files again, but don't select any files that are owned by external (non UNI) accounts.

Any files that can not be moved can be copied, and the copies can be moved to the Shared Drive. To make a copy, right click on the file, and select "Make a copy"
