Turn on the iPad and make sure it is plugged in and connected to the UNI wifi. 

Go to the settings application. (see image below)

 

In settings, go to the General Tab. Then, select Software Update. (see image below)

 

 

Now you will see what updates you have. (see image below) It may ask you for a passcode. If it is not the passcode that unlocks the iPad, reach out to IT in Service Hub.
