Accessing UNI email (Gmail)

Accessing UNI email (Gmail)

UNI uses Google Workspace, which includes email (Gmail).

Important

Student email access is available during orientation or after enrollment in classes for UNI students.

Email access is available on the first day of employment for UNI faculty and staff. Staff may have email access prior to the first employment date if it is requested by the department as part of the PAF process through Human Resource Services.

Email access ends as outlined in the Accounts and Access After Leaving UNI article.

Accessing UNI Email (Gmail)

UNI utilizes Google Workspace, providing students, faculty, and staff with a robust Gmail experience integrated with other campus tools.

How to sign in:

From the Gmail app

  1. Download the Gmail App from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

  2. Select Add Account and choose Google.

  3. Sign in using your UNI CatID and complete the setup.

    1. Set up the Gmail App on iOS for your UNI Email Account

  4. Persistence: Unlike the web browser, you will remain signed into the mobile app indefinitely until you change your CatID password.

Important Features & Best Practices

  • Duo 2FA Security: Your UNI email is protected by Duo Multi-Factor Authentication. Always have your registered device ready when signing in on a new computer.

  • Storage Limits: While Google Workspace offers significant storage, please be mindful of the shared storage limits across Drive and Gmail.

  • Official Communication: All official University correspondence (financial aid, billing, course updates) is sent only to your UNI email address. Check it daily.
