VLC: Play DVDs

  1. Insert your desired DVD into the computer's CD Drive

  2. Search for and open "VLC Media Player" from your windows start menu

3. Once "VLC Media Player" is open, left-click "Media" from the top left-hand corner

4. From the "Media" menu, left-click "Open Disc."

5. Verify Disc device is correct (VLC automatically detects what is in the DVD drive, this is in case it does not), and click "Play."

 

Troubleshooting

If there is an issue where VLC does not detect the DVD or gives an error, please try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Try giving the computer time to decode the DVD.

  2. Close any other software or programs to allow the computer time to decode the DVD.

  3. Verify there aren't any scratches, debris, or smudges on the desired DVD.

    1. You can clean the DVD with a microfiber towel or another glass cleaning cloth(s).
