Yes, and we encourage you to do so! This helps with Citrix licensing numbers and also makes it so you will not have to run the applications from the Internet. We don't recommend Citrix for video conferencing for any purpose. Instead, we recommend using your local device to run Zoom, or whatever software you are using for video conferencing. Once you have started Zoom, you can share the entire screen with your students and then launch the Citrix Desktop or Application and they will be able to follow along.

Yes, it does. If you have not been active for 20 minutes it will disconnect you from your session. This policy is in place to help with the number of concurrent licenses we have for campus. 

If you tried selecting the disconnect button at the top of screen, you saw the below notification Pressing Disconnect will close the window but will leave the virtual desktop running.  The Citrix policies will log you out after you have disconnected and not reconnected for 20 minutes.   To truly disconnect from the Citrix desktop, you need to sign out of the machine.  To do this:  Click on the Start Menu Select the top icon, which resembles a person icon  Select Sign out  You will not be disconnected for the system and will not longer use a license.

At this time the collaboration aspect of Power Bi is turned off for our domain. You can still use Power Bi Desktop, just simply exit out of the collaboration login prompt.

By default, Citrix Receiver only trusts a few root CA certificates, which causes connections to many Citrix servers to fail with an SSL error. The 'ca-certificates' package (already installed on most Ubuntu systems) provides additional CA certificates in /usr/share/ca-certificates/mozilla/ that can be conveniently added to Citrix Receiver to avoid these errors. Run these two commands in terminal: sudo ln -s /usr/share/ca-certificates/mozilla/* /opt/Citrix/ICAClient/keystore/cacerts/ sudo c_rehash /opt/Citrix/ICAClient/keystore/cacerts/ And then try to add the vdi.uni.edu account again.  You can read additional instructions on setting up Citrix on Ubuntu here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/CitrixICAClientHowTo
