External domain names
External (non-uni.edu) domain requests must be purchased by IT-Client Services through the main UNI Network Solutions account, and approved by the VP of the area the domain would be under and the Chief Information Officer. Therefore, they may require a minimum of 10 business days to turn around.
The domain name purchase, if approved, will be purchased with an IT Procurement Card and then charged to the account number provided by the UNI department requesting the domain.
It is recommended that domains be purchased for a minimum of five years to save administrative time in renewing them more frequently. The per-year cost is also less expensive for multiple years. If you plan to use the domain for less than five years and then drop it, please explain why.
Approximate domain costs (estimates, subject to change) are as follows:
One Year: $25
Two Years: $50
Three Years: $60
Five Years: $100
Ten Years: $200
To request an external domain, complete the External Domain Request Form.
UNI subdomain requests (my-site.uni.edu) should be submitted via a Web Development Request Form.
