Adobe PDF file content not displaying properly in web browser

Web browsers will render PDF files directly within the browser window itself, by default.

However, some PDF files (usually those with editable forms) may not render correctly within a web browser.

Instead, such as PDF will display a message similar to one of the following:

If this message is not eventually replaced by the proper contents of the document, your PDF viewer may not be able to display this type of document.
You can upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Reader for Windows®, Mac, or Linux® by visiting http//www.adobe.com/go/reader_download.

or

The document you are trying to load requires Adobe Reader 8 or higher.
You may not have the Adobe Reader installed or your viewing environment may not be properly configured to use

The implication from this outdated error text - that one's PC needs Adobe Acrobat (Reader) downloaded and installed - is almost always going to be false,
as UNI installs Adobe Acrobat (Reader) as a default application.  Instead, what this really means is that this particular PDF file needs to be downloaded and
manually opened with Adobe Acrobat (Reader), because it can not be properly rendered directly within the web browser.
