Manually Revoking SRS Roles

Manually Revoking SRS Roles

SRS has had a major update!

The interface of SRS has received a major update coinciding with the migration to UNI Works!

The instructions below indicate how to proceed in the old interface, and not all steps will necessarily match.
Development of updated documentation is underway!

IT appreciates your patience as this is updated.

SRS roles once granted are auto revoked when a person's assignment that they are tied to ends, or when the HR org tied to the assignment changes.  There are times when a person's responsibilities change and their assignment or HR org do not, and as a result you may want to remove some of the Roles granted to them.  There are four ways this can occur, I will cover the non administrator routes here.

Step-by-step guide

  • The four standard routes for manually revoking roles are:

    • Revoking your own role

    • Revoking a subordinates role

    • Revoking a role from someone where you are the role owner.  Every role has an owner, for departmental roles, it is typically the department head, but for campus wide roles it is likely the business area responsible for the role.

    • The fourth involves requesting a web transaction via SRS called SR03, this allows anyone in an HR org to see all other employees in the HR org and their SRS roles. In addition, holders of this role may revoke roles for those people in their department.

  • The first three routes can be taken from the initial SRS page as shown below:

  • Not all users have these buttons.  Supervisors/Managers only have the View Subordinate Roles button and Role owners only have the View Role Holders button.

  • Select the button that is appropriate.  If you select the 2nd or 3rd button you will need to search for the person you want to view using the available drop downs.

  • Once you are viewing your roles or the roles for whom you searched see the screen shot below:

  • Step one is identify the role(s) to revoke and click in the box to the left.  (Note you can not revoke the shaded roles, those are auto granted and only the system can take those away).

  • Step two is to enter the date on which the roles  are to be revoked and click on the Revoke Roles button

  • Once this is completed an end date will show on the role, and it will be synchronized with the target system typically in 6 hours or less, but in all cases by the next day.

  • For those that hold or request SR03, it works in much the same way.  The biggest exception is how you access it.  SR03 is accessed via My Administrative Access in MyUNIverse.
