URL Rejected

Problem

When attempting to use an online application, receive a "URL Rejected" message.

Solution

The issue is caused by special characters being pasted from (typically) a word or excel document.

There are two simple solutions to alleviate the issue:

  1. Utilize the "Paste as Plain Text" functionality of Windows Cut & Paste.

    1. Right click in the Web Application text box and choose "Paste as Plain Text":

Instead of Ctrl-V (Paste), use Ctrl-Shift-V (Paste as plain text)

  2. Paste the text from Word/Excel into an intermediate application (Notepad).  This will prevent any special Office-type characters from being included.

    1. Copy from Word, paste into Notepad, copy from Notepad, paste into Web Application
