Disable Wake for network access on macOS

Purpose

There are some bugs involved with Apple MacBooks (Pro & Air) and how they behave on large networks. If you receive an email regarding a temporary quarantine from the network you may be affected by this bug. In order to change the way your MacBook behaves on the network you should take this action.

Energy saver

Steps

  1. Click on the Apple () in the upper left hand corner and choose System Preferences.

  2. In System Preferences and go to Energy Saver and then the Power Adapter tab.

  3. In the Energy Saver menu uncheck the box for "Wake for network access".
