Sick Leave Conversion

Employees who earn vacation may earn conversion rights. Employees who have been employed less than 4 years and have accumulated a minimum of 80 hours in their sick leave account, or employees that have been employed more than 4 years and have accumulated 240 hours may elect via the Benefits and Pay App to earn an additional 4 hours of accrued vacation in lieu of the 12 hours of accrued sick leave any calendar month there is no sick leave usage.

*The requirements are prorated for employees that are less than full time.

*Per Iowa Code Chapter 63.3 (https://www.legis.iowa.gov/docs/iac/rule/11.63.3.pdf) and the university 4.57 Sick Leave policy (https://policies.uni.edu/457), any sick time off used in a month makes an employee ineligible to convert sick time off  for the month in which the use occurs.
